Our Campaign Story

ends 15 Nov 2021, 11:59 PM

Our project, “Friends of Exceptional Children” is an online fund-raising concert under a programme titled Temasek Shophouse Conversations: Youth Call to Action 2021. Our project was a brainchild of a group of students from both Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Republic Polytechnic. From this event, we aim to raise awareness towards children with intellectual disabilities and to alleviate the issues faced by them during this pandemic. 2 Primary and 4 Secondary schools are invited to perform for the concert. Band of Toa Payoh South's Community Club, Novo Winds will also be guest performing in our event! Funds raised can be used to purchase educational tools and enrichment programmes which can help strengthen our clients' social communication skills as well as invest in vocational trainings which can discover their talents and potential in different sectors and industries so as to be ready for employment.

About The Charity

Since Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) was founded in May 1962, MINDS has grown to become one of the oldest and largest non-governmental organisations catering to the needs of persons with intellectual disability (PWIDs) in Singapore.

We run 4 Special Education Schools; 3 Employment Development Centres (EDCs); 8 Training and Development Centres (TDCs); 2 Homes (one for adults, one for children); 1 Hostel (for adults), and a Caregivers Support Centre and home-based care services to cater to the educational, vocational, social and welfare needs of people with intellectual disability. To ensure employment opportunities for our clients, we have our own Allied Health Professionals and Social Enterprise Department.

MINDS aims to provide a seamless range of quality services that meet the current and future needs of persons with intellectual disability, and their caregivers.
