Our Campaign Story
ends 31 Dec 2022, 11:59 PMBeautiful People's Free For Good (FFG) is a mentoring programme for women from Singapore Prison. The mentoring begins 6 months before the women are released and continues after their discharge where mentors assist their mentees live stable, productive, and dignified lives.
One of the more significant events celebrated with the mentees is their day of discharge. Beautiful People's mentors join the mentees' families at the prison gate to welcome them back into the community, and a new life.
Each mentee is provided with a 'Welcome Home Kit' - an EZ-Link card to help them get home and go for job interviews; NTUC vouchers for supplies; and three personal items they wish for. I have found it so heartening that their wishes can be as simple as a Ramly burger or a slice of awfully chocolate cake, or clothes and accessories to help in their job search and to project a new image in their work lives.
Sasha M performed for a Beautiful People fundraiser in 2014 and remembers the difference Beautiful People's mentorship makes on our mentees lives. She is leading this fundraiser with a $5K donation and we hope to increase the amount for FFG with personal donations from friends and family. Will you help us?
About Campaign
Beautiful People's #ChoosetoChange returns for its second year. Our #ChoosetoChange campaign aims to amplify the positive impact of mentoring relationships through purposeful fundraisers.
We believe that those who give and those who receive are transformed. With #ChoosetoChange, we hope to inspire others by highlighting our volunteers who have chosen to challenge themselves.
You can #ChoosetoChange by taking a step towards making change in the lives of our mentees through our campaign. Your contribution to the campaign will support Beautiful People's mentorship programmes for our mentees to work towards positive change to become the next generation of inspiring leaders.
Your contribution will be matched dollar-for-dollar by ToteBoard's Enhanced Fund-Raising (EFR) Programme. With your donations, we hope to raise $50,000, which will be matched to a whopping $100,000 where we strive to empower the lives of our community.
*As Beautiful People is an Institution of a Public Character (IPC), all donations from at least $10 will receive a 2.5x tax deduction.
About The Charity
Mentoring. It is the simple idea that dreams come true because of someone who believes in the one who dreams. This one simple idea has seen us walk into residential rehabilitation homes, schools, living rooms and behind prison bars, to touch the lives of those who have become our family. Beautiful People, started in 2006, is a volunteer movement dedicated to building mentoring relationships that support young women and men, exploring the idea of freedom within and without, and helping them realise their dreams. We are a relationship, not a programme. We refuse to be constrained by the boundaries of fixed programme durations. We celebrate the ordinary everyday heroes who are the mentors and mentees, growing together in an extraordinary journey of challenging their own limits. Our philosophy of support translates into a powerful experience for growth and self-discovery through a combination of life-skills training, mentoring, and coaching.
