Our Campaign Story

ends 25 May 2023, 11:59 PM

My aunt was diagnosed with cancer in 2013, and luckily we were able to afford the treatment and other living expenses costs for her. However, a lot of patients aren't as fortunate as we were, and they struggle to make ends meet, especially with their loved ones needing specialised treatment and care. Therefore, I'd like to start a fundraiser to help the lives of people affected by cancer, directly and indirectly by fundraising for Singapore Cancer Society. They aim to provide patient care services through welfare, hospice home care, treatment subsidy and rehabilitation programmes. Additionally, free screenings are provided to help increase individuals' awareness and reduce cancer incidences as much as possible.

About The Charity

Established in 1964, Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) is a self-funded voluntary welfare organisation which provides patient care services to needy cancer patients through its welfare, hospice home care, cancer treatment subsidy and rehabilitation support programmes. In addition, the Society also provides free cancer screening services and promotes cancer awareness and prevention through its public education and community outreach programmes.

For the past 57 years, SCS has extended support to over a hundred thousand beneficiaries through various services and programmes. The impactful programmes continue to contribute in SCS' four key strategic thrusts:

- To reduce the incidence of cancer
- To increase survival rates
- To improve the quality of life of cancer patients and survivors
- To rally the community to take proactive action and join the fight against cancer
