Our Campaign Story

ends 09 Dec 2022, 11:59 PM

Hello All!
The year 13 Love NILS cas group is organising a fundraiser which begins today! Over the course of the coming few days (until thursday the 8th of september), there will be boxes in senior school reception and the IB common room with teacher's names on them. You can donate money to the Love NILS charity to support children with cancer by placing any amount of money as a donation into the box of a teacher. On Thursday the 8th, the money will be counted and the teachers who have raised the largest amount of money will be gunged (slimed!) at 1:20 pm on the 9th of September. Also, during the lunchtime on the 9th before the gunging, you will be able to donate 2$ in return for 3 wet sponges to throw at any involved teacher. Daily, we will
update the standings in the donations and who is on track to be gunged! Get involved and donate at SS Reception or the IB common room from today until the 8th of September to see your teachers get gunged!

About Campaign

A childhood cancer diagnosis is traumatic and the psychosocial effects on the child and family are significant throughout treatment and beyond. This funding will enable LOVE, NILS to continue implementing programs, which engage paediatric cancer patients and their families, reducing isolation, and providing joy and hope during the trauma of cancer treatment.

All funds raised through this will support LOVE, NILS' mission to be a beacon of hope and resilience for paediatric cancer patients and their caregivers in Singapore and will be matched dollar for dollar by the Singapore government.

About The Charity

At LOVE, NILS we provide support to children with cancer and their caregivers with much needed healthcare guidance, emotional care plus social and community support that will enable them to thrive.

THE CHALLENGE
Where do you even begin? Parents seeking treatment for their child have to find their way through complex, often puzzling healthcare systems. Both parent and child face immense challenges to their well-being, such as anxiety, isolation and depression. To stand a better fighting chance, families need guidance, emotional care, a strong community and other forms of support that some hospitals may not be able to fully provide.

THE WORK - Holistic support with a difference.
LOVE, NILS provides families with knowledge, resources and community support at every step of the way. We're the only non-profit in Singapore that raises funds to pay for Care Coordinators who guide patients and caregivers to receive the help they need.

We believe it takes a village to heal a child. And that's why we hold regular toy drives, events, school programs and hospital visits involving many dedicated individuals, to keep children and caregivers socially engaged, hopeful and resilient. This way, they know they're not alone in the fight.
