Our Campaign Story
ends 30 Jun 2020, 11:59 PMFeed the City - DBS Edition
The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the need for food and daily essentials among hard-hit communities in Singapore. To help the elderly and low-income communities, DBS has partnered Food Bank Singapore to create Feed the City - DBS Edition. Through this initiative, DBS has pledged to provide 200,000 meals, prepared by 15 of our F&B clients. The meals are sponsored by the DBS Stronger Together Fund and will be distributed by Food Bank Singapore.
Join us in supporting those in need by sponsoring a meal! We will match dollar-for-dollar, funds donated toward this programme, up to S$250,000. We are Stronger Together.
Says Ms Nichol Ng, co-founder of The Food Bank Singapore "The COVID-19 situation has largely affected our ability to reach out to the beneficiaries as we are running low on food and funds. As their level of food supply has dropped, we have also noted more requests from beneficiaries as they are unable to put food on the table during these uncertain times. Through DBS' support, we can continue to run our 'Feed the City' programme, and to meet the basic needs of those affected."
DBS Stronger Together Fund
The DBS Stronger Together Fund is an SGD 10.5 million fund set up by DBS to help communities, especially the elderly, low-income and migrant workers, impacted by COVID-19 across the region. With this fund, we will provide about 4.5 million meals and care packs, in addition to medical supplies, across the region.
About Campaign
The coronavirus outbreak has affected many, including local F&B businesses who have experienced a plunge in footfall. Survival is especially challenging during this time, and the livelihoods of workers in this sector have been affected with many experiencing a loss of income. At the same time, there are people amongst us who are in need of meals due to the disruptions that COVID-19 brought.
The Food Bank Singapore is committed to take on the crucial role during such uncertain times to continuously provide food to vulnerable communities and remain fully operational to ensure no one gets left behind. Through Feed the City (Take-Away Edition), we also hope to give F&B retailers that are badly hit a fighting chance of surviving COVID-19.
Feed the City also partners Eat for Good, a collaborative initiative by NVPC's Company of Good that aims to bring stakeholders in the food and dining space together to make doing good a part of daily encounters. (https://www.companyofgood.sg/story/276)
