Our Campaign Story

Empty Bowls is an initiative introduced to CIS this past August. The ultimate goal of Empty Bowls is to raise money and awareness for those in Singapore who are unable to get the food they need. The project crafts and creates ceramics, which we intend to sell at CIS' upcoming Night of MADness. The Empty Bowls initiative within our school was inspired by "The Empty Bowls Project" which is now celebrating its 25th year in operation. The project is defined as "a grassroots movement to help end hunger'.

The funds raised by the sale at MADness will go towards the Willing Hearts Organisation, which is a charity run almost entirely by volunteers, with soup kitchens that provide 5,000 meals daily to over 40 locations in Singapore, al throughout the year.

About The Charity

A secular, non-affiliated charity, Willing Hearts is wholly run by volunteers, apart from a handful of staff. It operates a soup kitchen that prepares, cooks and distributes about 6,000 daily meals to over 40 locations islandwide, 365 days a year. Beneficiaries include the elderly, the disabled, low-income families, children from single parent families or otherwise poverty stricken families, and migrant workers in Singapore.

Willing Hearts is a registered as a society with the Ministry of Home Affairs since February 2005 and as a charity with the Ministry of Ministry of Social and Family Development since December 2008.

Fundraising can help to raise more and change more lives.
