Our Campaign Story

ends 31 Aug 2022, 11:59 PM

Dear friends,

Many of you may know that I've been working in SPD, a local charity supporting persons with disabilities. But what you may not know is that it has been 26 years. Other than the fact that I like and enjoy my job, what have kept me going all these years is seeing how everyone, including my colleagues and the management are passionate about the cause, and how the lives of those we support and their families are transformed. For many, the support has given hope for a better tomorrow, both for themselves and their loved ones.

As we celebrate National Day, I'm reminded that there are many others with disabilities who need a boost and a lift from their circumstances, that we do have a moral obligation to reach out with a helping hand so that they are not left behind as we progress as a nation.

I hope you would support me in my humble effort to raise funds for SPD so that more fellow Singaporeans living with disabilities can be helped, and those who have been with us for many years can continue to receive the support they need. Reality is, there are many who will always need our help.

Please make a donation so that children and youths with disabilities can receive educational support, adults with disabilities can be trained and find financial independence through employment and elderly with disabilities can be age in place without going to a home. Whatever support from you will mean a lot.

Many thanks for putting your empathy into action and Happy National Day!

About The Charity

SPD is a local charity set up in 1964 to help people with disabilities maximise their potential and be a part of mainstream society.

We are here to help children and youths with special needs reach for the stars and be the best that they can be through early intervention and educational support.

We strive to boost the self-reliance and mobility of persons with disabilities within the community, and we do so through therapy services, assistive technology and the support and encouragement of our care team.

Our day care programmes provide respite to families, making it possible for persons with disabilities to stay with their loved ones at home for as long as possible without having to resort to institutional care.

A strong advocate for inclusive employment, we train people with disabilities and work with them to seek suitable employment opportunities so that they can be financially independent and lead a full and engaged life.

After more than 50 years, we remain focused and committed to enabling people with disabilities.
