Bricks and Mortar is a LEGO themed community project that aims to bring the greater Singaporean community together, to celebrate & promote our Singapore Spirit and shared values the way we know best, by building and playing together! An exhibition of the LEGO builds from this project runs from 26th February to 04th March 2018 at lvl 1 Bugis Junction (near Hoops Factory).
Organised by Hansen Khoo and Xylvie Huang, the Project aims to raise funds via a charity auction of vignettes built with LEGO bricks for Children's Aid Society, the governing body of Melrose Home which provides a nurturing 'Home away from Home' for vulnerable children and youth (6-18 years old) coping with adverse family circumstances.
Each vignette has been built by members of the local Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) community, who have donated their time as well as LEGO parts to make this project possible. Themes featured include scenes from the daily lives of Singaporeans, scenes unique to Singapore & festivals and occasions celebrated in Singapore.
Also displayed at this exhibition are LEGO vignettes built along the same themes by the residents of Melrose Home. Guided by fans from the local community & the Home's care staff, each vignette showcases the creativity and dedication of the residents in the first collaboration of its kind between these two communities.
Do your bit for charity by bidding on these LEGO vignettes! Bidding closes 3pm on the 4th of March 2018 so act fast!
About The Charity
Children's Aid Society provides a nurturing 'home away from home' for vulnerable and disadvantaged children and youths between the ages of 6 to 18 years old. Most of whom are coping with adverse family circumstances, family violence or child neglect issues.
Continued support from donors will enable us to provide quality residential care and meals, therapeutic and developmental services, enrichment and recreational programmes, and facilities management for the betterment of our residents' interests and needs.
