Our Campaign Story

ends 18 Jul 2020, 11:59 PM

Circuit breaker. I felt a lump and a pain. Can I get a scan or a mammogram. I texted my oncologist. A mammogram and scan were ordered for me. I refused to look at the monitor when the medical nurse did the scan. I prayed each time she hit the buttons to record something. I have a family history. The inner fear remains the same.
I told myself whatever the outcome, this life comes once and we take what comes and live our life with the best meaning forward.
Sat in the waiting room for an hour. Many of them were waiting for their turns. Cancer has not stopped for the pandemic. We are all equal. The equation, like the c19 virus, has neutralised for everyone regardless of social standing, wealth and priorities.
I sat at a corner and reflect. What if I don't check myself regularly. What if I don't know who to go to. What if I am afraid I don't have enough money to pay for the scan and mammogram. What if the results are positive. All the what-ifs. For the ordinary people like me waiting in fear at the waiting room, for those who are given the cancer news, for those who have to decide their treatments, for those who are there for treatments, for those who are waiting to live out their 5 years remission without a relapse. What if they are poor and don't have money nor insurance. I count my blessing when Doc said I am cleared.
NOW I know why I do what I do. With an even bigger urgency.
Can you feel the CAUSE.
Each day is a day borrowed. How do you want to live that day.
