Sweet-natured August was first spotted hiding in the workers' dormitories with a large maggot-infested wound on the back of his neck.
Being awfully shy and afraid of strangers, August proved to be a challenge to catch for our volunteers. After a few nights of futile attempts, we finally succeeded with the help of a dog trapper.
Clinical examinations revealed that his blood count was very low, and the poor boy was also diagnosed with Babesia Gibsoni, a dangerous strain of tick fever.
Over the past 2 months, our volunteers have been carefully tending to his wound and have managed to resolve his tick fever with medication. Due to the severity of the wound, he still has not fully recovered, and will continue to require medical attention.
Although August is still rather shy and takes a while to warm up to people, he has been very gentle and mild-mannered, allowing our volunteers to clean his wound and carry him without making a fuss.
August is recently sterilized, and well on his way to becoming a healthy and strong doggy. To-date his vet bills have reach a total of $1600. Hence, we are appealing to you to help cover the cost. Please help us with the bills if you can. Any amount will be most appreciated.
About The Charity
SOSD is a volunteer-run organisation dedicated to the welfare of Singapore's many street dogs.
Our mission is to eliminate cruelty to and abandonment of animals, enhancing their welfare, and improving the lives of animals and humans, through rescue, education and advocacy.
SOSD relies on the generosity of the public to support its shelters at Sungei Tengah and Jurong Island.
You can make a difference. Your kind donation will help in providing shelter, food, medicine, veterinary care and love to the rescued dogs.
Donations received in GivingSG will be pooled with other donations and be used to provide food, medicine, veterinary care and support for the dogs under SOSD's care. Donations may also be used to pay for other operational costs of SOSD's shelters, such as utilities, water, rental and transport costs and costs and expenses of its TNRM programme. This is inclusive of donations raised in all of SOSD's campaigns.
Your donation details will be submitted to IRAS automatically by SOSD.
