Our Campaign Story

ends 20 Aug 2022, 11:59 PM

I am turning 50 this August. As I was thinking of what I could do, I got to know about the YMCA Special Needs Inclusive Challenge. Why this challenge? I have always been fascinated by mountains and though I am not making the virtual climb this round, I want to support the 10 special needs ambassadors who are making the virtual climb. Secondly, as an educator, I am privileged to be able to work alongside amazing people who work hard to support children with special needs, and their families. I believe we can do so much more as a society to be inclusive especially for our adolescents and adults with needs. Thank you in advance for your support. Together, we can do this!

About Campaign

The YMCA Special Needs Inclusive Challenge is back for its third instalment as a virtual adventure to conquer Mt Fuji! Join our Special Needs Ambassadors to raise awareness and funds to support YMCA programmes that champion, challenge and train youth with special needs.

You can choose to go solo or join as a team to climb (3,776m) or walk/run/hike/cycle (120km) around Singapore, in a journey to conquer Mt Fuji virtually. You can also donate to support our Ambassadors and participants to cheer them on in their race.

Find out more about the challenge and sign up via fuji.ymca.org.sg.

Champion special needs inclusivity with us today!

Funds raised will go to the YMCA Community Services Fund that sustains programmes for youth with special needs, youth-at-risk and youth-in-need. Thank you for your kind support and contribution!

Meet Janna!

Going on long hikes as she trains up for the YMCA Inclusive Challenge brings great joy to Janna, with the company of the friends she has made.

Janna is also very passionate about the arts. Janna's mother shares the she has a very angelic voice, which is to no surprise that Janna has been singing her heart out in various choir groups over the past few years, even getting the opportunity to perform numerous times during the pre-pandemic days. Moreover, as part of the YoungStar community, she creates beautiful cards and artworks together with her parents for sale.

Join Janna to make the impossible, possible.

About The Charity

*COVID-19 Update: Due to COVID-19, many vulnerable communities face new challenges. Fundraising has also become exceptionally difficult. We would like to make an appeal to all to join us in our efforts in reaching out during these tough times. Your donation will fund new initiatives and existing programmes that support these communities. Please read "Our Programmes" for more information on these programmes.

The YMCA of Singapore stands to champion, challenge and train youth to become independent and effective contributors to an inclusive society.

Our "YMCA Strong" campaign is a statement of our desired outcome for all we serve - to give our clients a hand up, not simply a handout, so that each one will be strengthened to reach their potential.

Our programmes range from training and employing youth with special needs to mobilising and training youth leaders and volunteers to serve the needy in society.
