Amazing Trekkers Club is an organisation born from the courage of everyday women who understand the therapeutic power of outdoor adventure, and the strength of camaraderie. With this ethos, we are partnering Beautiful People in fulfilling our theme for 2020 Peaks for Purpose.
Our first project is sponsoring and mentoring a Beautiful People mentee on her first trek in 2020. Other activities we will be working with Beautiful People include a Coast-to-Coast walk for International Women's Day and treks in Singapore and Malaysia.
Help us achieve our target so that we can continue the good work of Beautiful People Because Our Dreams Matter.
Here's a story about one of the mentees we will be working with -
Hi, my name is Stephanie. And I'm currently working as a project manager at an IT company. Everything may seem perfect now, but it wasn't always this way.
When I was 8 years old, I was placed in a Children's home with my younger brother who was 7. This ended up being our home for the 2 years, then 5 years and soon 11 years. I wouldn't say that it was all bad and nothing good, but that's a story for another time. So many things happened when I was there, my mum passed on, I went to a secondary school, I had my first boyfriend, and on and on. I wished that there was a someone or even maybe like a "sister" that I can share all the events in my life. But there wasn't anyone that I felt okay to be vulnerable with until I met Lala, my big sister from Beautiful People.
About The Charity
Mentoring. It is the simple idea that dreams come true because of someone who believes in the one who dreams. This one simple idea has seen us walk into residential rehabilitation homes, schools, living rooms and behind prison bars, to touch the lives of those who have become our family. Beautiful People, started in 2006, is a volunteer movement dedicated to building mentoring relationships that support young women and men, exploring the idea of freedom within and without, and helping them realise their dreams. We are a relationship, not a programme. We refuse to be constrained by the boundaries of fixed programme durations. We celebrate the ordinary everyday heroes who are the mentors and mentees, growing together in an extraordinary journey of challenging their own limits. Our philosophy of support translates into a powerful experience for growth and self-discovery through a combination of life-skills training, mentoring, and coaching.
