#TeamBean Runs for a Reason
for Marymount Centre
Our Campaign Storyends 17 Mar 2017, 11:59 PM
Hello, we are Bea and Dean, also #TeamBean, and we are going to participate in the Translantau100 ultramarathon in Hong Kong this coming March 2017. It is Bea's first attempt to run such a distance and Dean will be running with her to make sure she finishes the race!
We thought we'd make this race (and the pain we are sure to endure!) more meaningful by supporting a cause close to our hearts, and we have chosen the Marymount Centre, which runs two Residential Homes for children, a 24-hour Crisis Shelter for abused women and their children, and a Student Care. TeamBean would like to support the Centre's mission to reach out to women and children who are experiencing injustices and their families and join them in their journey of healing as they rebuild their lives and restore their sense of dignity and worth.
100km is quite a distance to run (and climb) but every painful step will be worth it especially if we are able to make a difference in the lives of these women and children! We invite our friends to share what they can as we continue to work our butts off (quite literally too!) to achieve this goal!
Marymount Centre is set up by the Good Shepherd Sisters to reach out to the marginalized women and children in the society. Under Marymount Centre, there are two 24-hour Residential Homes for children (Ahuva Good Shepherd), a 24-hour Crisis Shelter for abused women and their children (Good Shepherd Centre) and a Student Care (Good Shepherd Student Care). We are committed in our mission to reach out with compassion and respect to women and children who are experiencing injustices and their families. We will journey with them in the healing of their personhood and empower them to rebuild their lives, so that they can restore their sense of dignity and worth.
