*All funds raised will go to Community Chest before they are disbursed to the Social Service Agency (SSA) mentioned below after consideration of the programme objectives and financial needs of the SSA.

Rag (Receive and Give) & Flag Day is an annual carnival by NUS students. With a long history dating back to the 1960s, Rag & Flag Day has evolved into one of NUS' annual flagship events.

Every year on Rag & Flag Day, students from the different faculties, societies, halls, and residential colleges will come together to celebrate the spirit of receiving and giving by putting up a vibrant display of floats and performances. This serves as a means of extending our appreciation towards the university and the general public for their generous contribution and support towards our 21 beneficiaries under the Community Chest/charitable course.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are adopting a new format of Rag & Flag this year which will be an exciting virtual experience filled with an array of performances from our participating bodies and guest performances from our local scene. Do keep a lookout for the broadcast which would be held on Saturday, 7th of August 2021 from 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm.

About The Charity

Community Chest is the philanthropy and engagement arm of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), which is the national co-ordinating body for social service agencies in Singapore.

As the hallmark of care and share, Community Chest aims to raise funds and engage the community so that social service agencies can focus on developing and delivering quality solutions and empowering the lives of those in need. Since 1983, Community Chest has been serving and in partnership with the people, public and private sectors to create a collaborative and impactful social service ecosystem for 39 years.

100% of your donations go towards helping the disadvantaged, as our fundraising and operating costs are covered mainly by Tote Board. Community Chest supports more than 100 social service agencies and over 200 critical programmes empowering the lives of those in need, including children with special needs and youth-at-risk, adults with disabilities, persons with mental health conditions, and seniors and families in need of support.

Fundraising can help to raise more and change more lives.
