About Campaignends 30 Nov 2016, 11:59 PM
This may sound alarming, but Diabetes has been found to be one of the leading causes of kidney failure in Singapore. As the cause of kidney failure in 50% of new dialysis patients is due to diabetic complication of the kidney, a cure of diabetes will reduce the need for dialysis drastically.
Through research, KDF aims to move up-stream and support research projects that will lead to the prevention of kidney failure and the need for expensive dialysis treatment.
Under the KDF-NUS Research Fund, we are currently funding a National University of Singapore (NUS) project which seeks to find alternative treatment and possibly even a cure for diabetes.
Donate to this movement today to further medical research.
About the Charity
The Kidney Dialysis Foundation (KDF) is an independent non-profit organisation which provides subsidised dialysis treatment to needy members of the community. We support those whose income falls into the lowest 15% income bracket in Singapore, ensuring that this vulnerable group of patients will not be deprived of treatment as a result of their financial situation. We currently run three haemodialysis centres at Bishan, Chinatown and Ghim Moh, serving about 340 patients annually. At least $4 million is needed yearly to continue KDF's life-saving mission. All donations to KDF will be eligible for tax deduction as we are a IPC registered charity. *Impact statements listed above are for illustrative purposes only. All donations received through this page will be channelled into the KDF general fund, which covers patients' dialysis treatment, public education, research and other operating expenses.
