Our Campaign Storyends 31 Jan 2020, 11:59 PM
Now in its second year, Build a Dream is a joint initiative by Marina Bay Singapore Countdown and Community Partner National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre to support the underserved and contribute to their personal growth. This festive season, we are bringing cheer to 4 social service organisations. Join us in making the dream of an inclusive society come true!
Jia En was placed in The Scaffold Programme in 2018, in partnership with SHINE Children and Youth Services. During groupwork sessions, Jia En often shares with her peers and social workers that she aspires to become an artist or art teacher in the future. Through the sessions and her art, Jia En has learnt to better manage her emotions whenever she feels upset or angry. They've also allowed her to bond with and better understand her classmates.
There are many youths with learning and socio-emotional difficulties in Singapore. SHINE strongly believes that every child has the potential to achieve their dreams and be contributing members of our society if given the right guidance, and you can help by making a donation this festive season!

About The Charity
SHINE Children and Youth Services has been serving underprivileged children and youths with learning and socio-emotional difficulties in Singapore since 1976. We remain committed to enabling them to overcome their challenges and maximise their potential. We do this through providing services in schools, in the community and through our centres, for children and youths who are in need of support, disadvantaged by their circumstances or present at-risk profiles. SHINE strongly believes that every child and youth has the potential to achieve and be contributing members of our society.
We serve around 5,000 students, aged 5-21 years old, each year. We aim to:
++ positively develop them with Competence, Confidence and Character
++ facilitate them to form meaningful Connections with their family and the society
++ nurture in them a Care for others
++ guide them to Steer clear of crimes while being Positively engaged in school.
