Our Campaign Storyends 31 Dec 2019, 11:59 PM
Founded in 2010, the Amputee Support Group (ASG) is a collaboration between the Ang Mo Kio-Thye Hua Kwan Hospital Care and Counselling Department, and Tan Tock Seng Hospital Rehabilitation Centre.
ASG is funded by the TTSH Community Fund, and helps persons with amputation maintain a social support network by addressing their psychosocial needs and reduce social isolation. Our members come from different walks of life with different stories to share, with many having experienced social isolation.
The ASG meets monthly to conduct educational sessions, covering topics such as anger management to maintenance of artificial limbs. We also organise outings to benefit the mental and physical well-being of our members. These activities help them reintegrate to the community by boosting their confidence and gaining public acceptance. We truly believe that our members have more abilities than disabilities.
Each donation of $20 and/or above, entitles donors to one tote bag*.
These tote bags are customised with the ASG logo and words of inspiration contributed by members. Through these bags, we hope to create public awareness of the presence of ASG and a sense of solidarity amongst our members.
*each donation transaction of $20 and/or above would entitle donors to 1 bag (only), while stocks last.
About The Charity
In keeping with Mr Tan Tock Seng's Legacy of Giving, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) set up its charity arm, TTSH Community Fund, in August 1995 to improve the quality of life of our patients and the community. Our Charity turns 25 in 2020, this is made possible with the community's effort and continuous support.
Today, our Charity runs more than 100 patient-centred programmes, disbursing more than $2 million each year for the Charity's activities. We support over 2,500 needy patient cases, especially the elderly and those who fall through the cracks of the system, and those who are unable to receive help from traditional charitable agencies.
From expensive non-standard medication and breathing equipment to mobility aids, community rehabilitation programmes, and even dentures to help them eat better, TTSH Community Fund helps needy patients to gain greater independence, improve their quality of life and enable them to integrate back into the community. The Fund also supports healthcare research, innovation, and training for our staff and the community to deliver better patient care.
Our Charity runs entirely on public donations. Every dollar to the Charity goes directly to support our activities. The TTSH Community Fund is a registered charity with IPC status.
