Our Campaign Story

ends 04 Nov 2021, 11:59 PM

Fund Raising effort and public awareness have been badly hit during the COVID period, during this same period of time patients' needs don't stop.

Patients suffering from Blood diseases are not able to take COVID vaccination as easily as normal healthy people. The main goal is to register 42 new potential donors, increasing the chances of the patients' survival. The Secondary goal is to give public awareness that these patients need as much attention as well to the global pandemic right now. Treatment doesn't stop.

An active volunteer since 2012, until the COVID pandemic and restriction hits which limit the chance to do volunteering work physically. Truly grateful and thankful that I am still able to stay fit and healthy to be able to do daily tasks as well as things I enjoyed doing.

Turning 42 this year, I have decided to initiate this 42 day of campaign. I wish to bringing the collective effort from everyone and making it a greater impact. Taking this opportunity, I would love to bring together something I have fell in love with this year, which is Rhythmic riding also known as Spinning. Not only it keeps me fit physically, but it also kept me mentally well too!

This will greatly increase the chance of survival for all the patients. Together we can create a bigger impact in their lives!

About The Charity

Blood diseases such as Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma can strike any one at any time. When all other treatment has failed, a bone marrow transplant is their only chance of survival.

When patients are unable to find a matching donor within their family, they come to us in search of a Matched Unrelated Donor (MUD), who could give them a second chance at life. As finding a MUD means a healthy donor with the same DNA profile, the odds of finding that unique match is very low.

Thus since 1993, we at the Bone Marrow Donor Programme (BMDP) are committed to building and managing Singapore's only register of volunteer marrow donors. Providing hope for patients suffering from blood-related diseases.
