Our Campaign Story

ends 27 Mar 2020, 11:59 PM

I'm turning 21 in about one month. I've been considering how I would like to spend my 21st and I very quickly eliminated the idea of holding a big party to celebrate my existence .

Rather, this 21st birthday, I'd like to celebrate my birthday by thanking the people who've given my existence meaning because amidst the 7.53 billion people breathing on Earth, I'm really just a miniscule human being. I've been extremely lucky to have met people, be it adults or peers, who've really helped shape and mold me to become the 20-going-on-21 Jiayi/Alicia today.

So the first group of people on the list are the doctors and nurses who helped delivered me on the 27th of March 1999! I don't really remember who they specifically are but with the recent Covid-2019 outbreak, I can't help but think of our healthcare professionals who are sacrificing so much for us.

The Sayang Sayang Fund that I'm fundraising for is raising money to help send healthcare professionals home safely. I'm sure you've read/heard about the abuse our healthcare professionals have been facing on public transport. While I don't have the cure for the virus nor am I able to save lives, I want to do what I can to help those who are out there trying to solve this crisis.

Every dollar counts, even if it is just the price of your next cup of coffee or mcgriddles stack.

In advance, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

About Campaign

A Call To Continue Rallying Together...

THANK YOU to everyone who generously supported the community-driven Sayang Sayang Fund. We have far surpassed our initial target of $500,000! This was made possible with help from many private individual and corporate donors who donated to the fund directly or set up their own fund-raising pages.

Transportation vouchers have already gone out to healthcare professionals in hospitals and polyclinics. We will soon be supporting other community healthcare staff and charities serving those who have been especially impacted by COVID-19's precautionary measures, such as vulnerable seniors and low income families.

The pandemic will be here for a while and even as the economy slows down, many charities, hit by restrictions in fund-raising efforts, have begun bearing millions of dollars in lost donations. They need our help. That is why we want to keep the Sayang Sayang Fund open, to help make sure no one falls by the wayside during this challenging period.

Your heart-warming outpouring of love and support truly brings to life the community spirit of the Sayang Sayang Fund. Thank you for your continuing support.

(The Sayang Sayang Fund is a community impact fund to care for the vulnerable in our community during times of national crises.)
