Patrick* is 13 years old this year and has been raised single-handedly by his mother, as his father left the family when he was 5 months old.

With no other relatives in Singapore to provide support, his mother placed Patrick in the care of Boys' Town while she sought medical treatment.

Patrick also has various medical conditions since the age of 9 and is required to attend regular medical appointments.

Due to his family background and physique, Patrick was often teased at and bullied since young, which led to him having difficulty trusting others and maintain positive peer relationships.

*Name has been changed to protect the youth's identity.

About the Charity

Boys' Town is a charity founded by the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel in 1948. We first began as a residential care for war-torn orphans, imparting education and life skills to them. Over the years, we have expanded to provide a continuum of services and become a one-stop children and youth centre. Boys' Town's services now include residential, fostering, youth outreach, adventure therapy, clinical intervention and family reunification. Boys' Town serves both boys and girls, from infants to young adults. We help children and youth who come from disadvantaged and disengaged families who may have faced hardship resulting from difficult home situations, financial struggles, abandonment, and abuse. Each year, Boys' Town works with close to 600 children and youths. With over 70 years dedicated to the social mission, Boys' Town equips the children and youths in need with the skills they need to become socially integrated, responsible and contributing members of society.
