About Campaign

ends 21 Dec 2020, 11:59 PM
We've been running the Women's Helpline for 25 years and have supported over 25,000 callers since we started. Throughout the years, it's become clear we need to ensure that every woman can access and feels welcomed in our support network. The money raised will allow us to develop our staff, volunteers, counsellors and lawyers' capabilities to run services in Malay, Tamil and Mandarin, as well as in English. We are also developing our team's knowledge of Syariah law in order to better support Muslim women.

Your generous contribution will help us work towards expanding the Women's Helpline to better support more women from minority and marginalised groups in Singapore.

No woman should be turned away from the help they need.

Our Support Services provide information and support for women who are in distress or at a time of uncertainty in their lives.

Our services comprise the following:

Helpline - Our helpline volunteers are professionally trained to provide empathy, support, information and encouragement to women in need of assistance.

Counselling - Our counsellors provide counselling for individuals, couples, and families.

Legal Clinic - Experienced lawyers are available to provide women with free legal information and advice.

About the Charity

The Association of Women for Action and Research (AWARE) is Singapore's leading gender equality advocacy organization. AWARE supports and empowers women on an individual basis and seeks to remove all gender-based barriers that prevent individuals in Singapore from developing their potential to the fullest and realizing their personal visions and hopes. It does this in three ways, namely, research and advocacy, education, and providing social services.

In 2016, AWARE won the Charity Governance Award 2016 for the Medium Charities/IPCs category.

The Charity Governance Awards, (CGA), organised by the Charity Council, aim to promote good governance in the charity sector by acknowledging the excelling work of charities, while inspiring others to emulate their best practices.

AWARE qualified as a candidate for the CGA by becoming a winner of the Charity Transparency Awards (CTA). The CTA recognises charities with good disclosure practices.
