About Campaign

Monkeys raiding the bin? Snake in the void deck? Civets in the attic?

With a monthly average of over 80 wildlife conflict cases, our wildlife management team strives to mitigate human-wildlife conflict situations through various methods:

Our wildlife management team empathizes greatly with callers who encounter macaque conflicts, but it does not end there. We make site visits to access the situation better and highlight any practices (feeding, improper waste disposal, improper storage of food, fruiting trees in homes) that encourage macaque encounters.

We believe in pre-emptive measures in addressing the root causes of a problem. From talks to virtual education programmes in schools and through engagement of residents in areas where human-macaque encounters are prevalent, we educate people on the following:

1) Do's and don'ts when encountering macaques and wildlife
2) Understanding macaque behaviour (facial expressions, body language)
3) Best-practices to minimise macaque encounters
4) Training on basic tips with guarding a macaque out of the property
5) Engaging the property and estate managers to pre-empt a potential issue
6) Working closely with government agencies on developments to mitigate conflict situations

Your donation will go a long way in helping to realize the true meaning for City in Nature concept, which is not only to enjoy the greenery but to make Singapore a safe space for both people and the animals whom we share it with!

About the Charity

ACRES is a pioneering Singapore-based charity with a sole aim to advocate for an end to animal cruelty in our own backyard. With Singapore's first facility dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of animals rescued from the illegal wildlife trade and injured native wild animals we speak up for more animals via our five focus areas: Tackling Wildlife Crime in Singapore, Humane Education, Promoting Cruelty-Free Living, Community Outreach, and Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation.

Since our founding in May 2001, ACRES has helped effect several environmental shifts that pushed Singapore forward in the animal protection movement. Alongside collaborative efforts with governmental agencies, we seek to nurture a responsible society from grassroots level to the individual homes where animals are treated with compassion and respect.
