About Campaign

The Handicaps Welfare Association, HWA, has been providing a rehabilitation programme specially tailored to the needs of people with physical disabilities since 1992, at its Whampoa Rehabilitation Centre.

Currently more than 120 PWDs and elderly Singaporeans are receiving rehabilitation service from this centre, regularly. This centre also provides regular consultation to our 2,000 members, and counting, as and when they require assistance on accessibility, employment assistance, purchase of mobility aids or disability certification. Most of them hail from less privileged backgrounds.

As the demand for rehabilitation service surges in keeping with an ageing population, HWA will be expanding its current facility. We are hoping to replace our current rehabilitative and exercise equipment, and purchase more comprehensive and modern ones, to better serve our clients in need.

About the Charity

For the past 40 years, the Handicaps Welfare Association (HWA), a voluntary welfare organisation, has been providing much needed services to people with physical disabilities so as to facilitate their integration into mainstream society. Although HWA is a member of the National Council of Social Services (NCSS), it is not funded by the Community Chest and therefore has to raise its own funds to meet the cost of running all its programmes and services that benefit over 2,100 people with physical disabilities who are registered with the Association. It has become increasingly difficult to raise the money to run our programmes and services. We therefore have to rely on the generosity of corporations and members of the public for financial support.

Fundraising can help to raise more and change more lives.
